Composer Laureate Calliope Tsoupaki writes a piece for Matthijs
The new Dutch Composer Laureate Calliope Tsoupaki wrote the piece Song for Life and Death at the occasion of 70 years human rights. According to Calliope this is a homage to the people who fought for human rights. “It is a song for the victims, for the heroes and for the ones who were left behind and think of them. A song for all of us. I chose the panpipes, because I know how beautiful and moving the sound of Matthijs Koene is. I wrote Song for Life and Death especially for him.”
This piece was premiered December 10 2018 at the Dom, Utrecht, the Netherlands and was performed the same day in the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands. The radio premiere was at Opium, where Matthijs played Song for Life and Death live:
To be published on this page very soon: the score of Song for Life and Death, because the Composer Laureate wants to share the music for free with the Dutch people.
